Samui day trips
Snorkel at Angthong
AngThong National Marine Park, visible in silhouette from our villa at sunset, could easily be the highlight of your holiday: it’s just that beautiful. Can you see it in our photo, above? It's sitting just along the horizon.

At AngThong - snorkelling, hiking and private beaches await. It’s possible to charter your own boat from the pier near our villa,
just a 5-minute drive away. Allow a full day for the trip to and through AngThong’s many islands.
Contact any of the boat, dive or kayak outfitters mentioned within for charter information.

Samui tours
Tour the island
Rent a car (make sure it’s insured*) and stop wherever fancy dictates. It takes a few hours to completely circle Samui and we highly recommend it. Rules of the road: the biggest wins.

(
Learn how to rent a Samui hire car).
* In Thailand, the car itself is insured, not the driver.

Waterfalls
Samui has two large waterfalls - Namuang I and II. Tour groups visit daily, go early if you prefer a quieter experience. Be sure to wear slip-proof shoes.

Magic Garden

Samui Magic Garden
A garden high in the jungle hills filled with statues and treasures carved by the late Nim Thongsuk. You’ll need an intrepid driver to get here on your own - ‘off road’ barely does it justice. A 4X4 Jeep is absolutely necessary, but we recommend joining a group or hiring a local driver for the purpose, as it’s very easy to get lost. In the jungle. Which is scary. (Garden entrance 40 THB)
Enquire with an island travel agent for transport details.

Samui excursions
Monkey Theatre
A visit teaches how monkeys are used to harvest island coconuts, a skill crucial to the island’s main agricultural industry. (10 THB)
Near Chaweng on the ring road to Bophut. Lots of signs mark the way.

Grandfather rock

Samui grandfather rock
The shape, the scale, the sheer implausibility.... Giggle like a teenager at ‘Hin Ta Hin Yai’ & snag some postcards your friends will never believe. Be sure to ask about the local legend....
South of Lamai beach

Things that bite
‘Look but don’t touch’ is the motto of the
Samui Snake Farm, a reptile zoo home to Thailand’s many venomous snakes. Daily 60-minute shows feature performers (such as ‘The Scorpion Queen’) interacting with snakes and scorpions in a way many might find just too close for comfort.
(Shows at 11am and 2pm daily)
Slightly off the beaten track, but the route is well marked.
