If you’re not in Thailand today, you’ll see news reports of Thais having much more fun than you. Be jealous – this is a country that excels in sanuk (having fun). Today marks the much anticipated Thai New Year, rightly celebrated in the hottest part of the year with lots and lots and lots of water. There’s a joke that goes: “One of the funniest things to watch is an injured seal swimming away from a shark. Because where does he think he’s going?”
The same applies today to anyone well-dressed and dry all across Thailand. They’ll be soggy soon enough.
